Whitewater Trips
Whitewater Trips
We are pretty confident that this 8-mile stretch of whitewater has the highest concentration of laughter in the state of Wyoming. With class II and III rapids such as The Lunchcounter and The Big Kahuna, and even an underwater waterfall aptly named Champagne, this river will thrill and delight you. And with inspiring limestone cliffs, hills of Lodgepole Pine, and the mountain peak horizon of the Grey’s National Forest, the scenery will surely impress you. This is the moment in your vacation that you’ll write home to grandma about—that is, if she’s not already in the boat with you!
No experience is necessary for the standard boat; in fact, the majority of customers are first-time rafters. The standard boat accommodates all types of rafters: feel free to help the guide and paddle through the waves, or sit toward the back and just laugh and hold on tight. Kids can sit in front or back depending on their comfort level, but rest assured they will have the most secure spot on the boat with paddlers on each side of them.
Get ready to hit Lunchcounter and Big Kahuna with a major splash. With a smaller raft and just 8 spots, this boat can be a wetter, more exciting ride. Although you do not need any experience to ride in this boat, most people will paddle. Kids are welcome on this boat as well as the standard, although during high waters in early summer, the age minimum may be increased.
Scenic Trips
Scenic Trips
If you enjoy the early morning sunlight sparkling on the water's surface, or find an Eagle perched on an over-hanging branch inspiring, then you will relish a scenic trip down the Snake River. You will see fish hawks like Osprey, Eagles, and Kingfishers, and you will spot wildlife such as otters, beavers, elk, and moose. Our guides will do all the work; you can just sit back and relax, and enjoy the quiet moments of the river. We have two options for scenic trips:
- Begins West of Jackson under the Tetons and Snake River Range.
- 13-mile trip takes about two hours on the river.
- 3 Departures offered daily in the morning, at noon, and in the afternoon.
- Freshly baked muffins and juice are offered in the morning with a deli box lunch at noon.
- Departs once a day in the morning.
- Begins at Pritchard Creek and travels to the upper canyon of the Snake River.
- 8-mile trip takes about one hour and a half on the river.
- If you have family members who just want to do a scenic trip while other want to do whitewater, this is a great option. Everyone can do the scenic trip together and then the people who want to get off before the whitewater section begins can during the short break between the two trips.
Combo Trips
Combo Trips
Our most popular trip! This trip combines the serene beauty of the 8-mile scenic float with the excitement of paddling through 8-miles of rapids. In the morning, you'll sit back and float down some of the best Eagle nesting habitat in the country. This section of the river is home to a variety of waterfowl and native animals such as deer, elk, otters, and moose. By mid-morning it's break time at West Table on the banks of the Snake and time to gear up for the most asked-for activity in Jackson Hole: Whitewater Rafting in the Grand Canyon of the Snake River. There is no need for superlatives, the names of the rapids say it all: Big Kahuna, LunchCounter, Three Oar Deal, Ropes, and Champagne. After the adventure is over, we'll take you to a spot along the river for a deli lunch before we bring you back to town.
There is no bus travel between where the scenic trip ends and the whitewater trip begins. It is a continuous float. Be sure to make your reservations in advance because our most popular trip of the day fills up quickly. This trip is about 5 to 6 hours from the time you leave our office until you get back to town.
